  Tool Design Engineering Intern

  Worked with the engineers in the Company’s Application Development center to design, rework and implement injection molding solutions for a leading custom plastics molder and contract manufacturer specializing in design, prototyping, molding, sheet metal fabrication, full-service machining, and medical device manufacturing. Founded in 1920, Mack is a privately-owned, approximately $600 million business operating 12 facilities in the U.S. and Mexico with more than 3,000 employees. Specific responsibilities included conducting a competitive analysis of the high-end furniture market for a $4 million customer focusing on cost of manufacturing compared to retail value as related to resin pricing, scrap, press rates and shipping costs. Utilized Tulip Manufacturing Software to build apps that automated several department processes, including design for manufacturing checklists, more efficiently storing and accessing data, quoting activities and tool requisition forms. Additional responsibilities included using SolidWorks to build new 3D modeling for a $10 million medical customer in the orthopedics market to account for software version discrepancies and assisting with the annual inventory process and auditing of material counts.
