Abbey is a member of the Florida and Illinois Bars and admitted to practice in Federal Courts in both states. Abbey's primary practice for over 30 years has been defending lawsuits against individuals, organizations, governments, and insurance companies. He has tried in excess of one hundred civil jury trials and has participated in numerous appeals and arbitration hearings. Also, Abbey has served as an Adjunct Professor at Stetson College of Law teaching courses in Insurance Law and Damages. Mr. Abbey's professional experience includes insurer bad faith, motor vehicle liability; trucking defense; uninsured motorist claims; coverage litigation; industrial accidents; machine and equipment failures; wrongful death; premises liability; and products liability.A Florida Bar Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, Abbey is a member of Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA) Defense Research Institute (DRI) Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA) and Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC). Abbey has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America; designated a Florida Leading Lawyer by Florida Trend magazine; and named a Florida Super Lawyer. Abbey shares as much time as possible with his wife and family and pursues his interest in auto racing and vegetable gardening. He has attended every Indy 500 since 1965 and has maintained a backyard vegetable garden at his Florida home since 1983. Abbey is the original and continued owner of a fully restored 1970 Mustang Mach I.
