Worked with the CMS collaboration in Louise Skinnari's Northeastern University research group. Conducted performance studies of the level one particle tracking algorithm using simulated Monte Carlo data. Worked on a remote Linux machine, used bash scripting, and a computing job scheduler to submit many jobs at once. Created new performance plotting scripts using ROOT/C++. Utilized git to track down bugs affecting efficiency, and created bug fixes for the tracking software.

Characterized custom-designed superconducting integrated circuits, including shift register, magnetometer, and multi-state memory element. Built and repaired experimental hardware to reduce electrical noise and improve circuit performance. Automated measurement of circuits in liquid helium and cryocoolers using MATLAB. Simulated circuits with Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre to develop experimental methods and expectations. Results presented at weekly meetings, monthly reports to sponsor, and Applied Superconductivity Conference.

Collaborated on research with a Ph.D. student investigating the clogging of granular material in hoppers. Conducted automated experiments using Arduino code to rotate a 2D hopper and take pictures of each trial. Utilized the image processing toolbox on MATLAB to collect, aggregate, and analyze various data collected from over 30,000 photos. Automated data analysis and wrote code for a custom lognormal distribution fitter. Created summary graphical representations of data that were presented at the AIChE conference by the Ph.D. student. Co-authored a paper submitted to the American Physical Society.

Explored a potential radio frequency energy harvesting circuit using voltage multipliers to rectify radio waves for the application of self-powered IoT devices. Designed multiple-stage voltage multiplier circuits in OrCAD and ran PSpice simulations to identify how individual components function with varying input frequency and voltage for optimization of power conversion efficiency. Arranged our schematic on a PCB using OrCAD PCB Designer, adding an impedance matching network, SMA RF connectors, and test points. Soldered components to printed PCB, measured input impedance using a vector network analyzer, and conducted design verification on the circuit.

Developed a digitally controlled analog filter that automatically calibrated to a user-specified cutoff frequency. Optimized design on LTSpice for the best range of cutoff frequencies before soldering components on a PCB. Programed an Arduino Uno to read a rectified output voltage that changed permutations of powered relays connected to capacitors until the output voltage corresponding to the desired cutoff frequency was obtained.
