My career has spanned nearly 30 years of human factors and UX roles in a variety of industries (personal computers, aerospace, consulting and medical devices) performing product design, customer research, product development activities and usability engineering. I am included on multiple patent applications for heart valve delivery and surgical products and co-wrote and own the Human Factors engineering standard operating procedure used within multiple divisions of Medtronic. I've led the Human Factors effort on over a dozen products that have received both CE mark and FDA clearance.I worked within Medtronic in 3 divisions (CRHF, Cardiac and Vascular and CAS) - including surgical and trans catheter heart valves, valve repair products, perfusion and both surgical and transcatheter ablation for 19 years. During this time I've been able to work on projects ranging from software (both database and internet) to patient monitors to surgical devices, heart valve products (delivery systems and surgical heart valves) and ablation systems and catheters. I currently work for Olympus Medical providing direction on the HFE process for design and the completion of formative and summarize studies. Over the course of my career I've worked on both consumer facing and highly technical products delivered for specific users. I interfaced with a variety of job functions - engineering (electrical, mechanical, SW), marketing, quality and systems engineering. I interacted with Medtronic executive leadership on functional strategy/staffing/process to increase the ability of Human Factors to influence product development.
