Dr. Akbari is also seen as a thought leader within the profession of audiology and has appeared on the programs "This Week in Hearing," "Audiology Talk," the "Hearing Journal Podcast," and "ListenUp!" Dr. Akbari currently serves on the ANSI/ASA S3 WG48 working group where he has contributed substantively since 2013, and is currently the Chairman. Dr. Akbari also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for The Hearing Review, as well as on the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) Task Force on OTC Hearing Aids where his work has earned him the recognition of other leaders in audiology culminating in receiving the prestigious Hearing Industry Leadership Award from the Academy in 2022; the first time the award has been issued in 10 years, and the first individual to ever win the award.Prior to returning to school to pursue audiology, Dr. Akbari worked as a software developer in music-DSP in Los Angeles, CA and graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2006, with a degree in Music Synthesis. An accomplished musician, Dr. Akbari was commissioned in 2007 to write music for Carnegie Hall as part of the "Young Composers" series.Dr. Akbari has worked with Intricon since 2012 where he was first engaged working with behavioral analysis on products in development to make systems easier and more effective for end users. Dr. Akbari currently acts as the head of audiology at Intricon, and has branched out into medical science, clinical, and regulatory affairs more broadly.
