As IT Technician and then as Network Manager, I worked alongside the Director of IT to manage and maintain the IT infrastructure in the school. Primarily the day to day running of the network and providing support to staff and students, as well as bigger installation projects. Having undertaken a course in using Microsoft SCCM, I went on to manage the migration of devices to Windows 10 using Microsoft SCCM to deploy and then manage software installation on client machines. Have now taken on additional responsibilities when the Director of IT recently left.• Responsible for maintaining the IT systems to ensure that they remain functional and reliable in order to support the teaching activities and administration functions of the whole school.• Broad experience and knowledge of systems across the network infrastructure; Microsoft Server 2012 and later, Hyper-V virtualisation, Active Directory and Group Policy, Exchange email server, Windows 10 operating system, network management, DNS, DHCP, firewall, internet filtering, anti-virus, wireless infrastructure, print systems, backup.• Installation and setting up of PCs, Chromebooks, iPads, network devices, projectors, printers.• Manage software deployments and updates using tools such as WDS, WSUS and SCCM.• Configuration and management of the Google G Suite system.• Perform user management tasks and ensure that users have the correct access rights and permissions on the network.• Provide support and guidance for using a range of software applications including Microsoft Office, and Google G Suite Apps.• Manage the school’s management information system, SchoolBase, including providing training to staff in how to best make use of the system.• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, while minimising disruption to the operation of the school.• Deliver support to users to ensure they are able to make effective use of the IT facilities.

As IT Technician assisted the network manager to run the school's IT network. Assisting students and staff in using the computers and troubleshooting problems on desktop and servers. Gained key skills in using Active Directory and Group Policy to manage the network.

On returning from the race I worked for the race organisers taking the race yachts out on corporate sailing days in the Solent, and training sails for people preparing for the next round the world race. Qualified as an RYA yachtmaster and sailed professionally as the Mate on a Round Britain and Ireland race, and a Transatlantic Race. Both races were with an amateur crew and I would take charge of the duty watch on deck to sail the yacht.

Fulfilling a dream to take part in the Global Challenge 2004-5 Round the World Yacht Race as a member of the crew on the race winning yacht BG Spirit. Main sailing roles on deck were foredeck team and helm, with an element of everything in between. Below deck in charge of the yacht's inventory ensuring that we were carrying everything required for each leg of the race and stowing it onboard. Organising the resupply during port stopovers. Excellent teamwork skills, taking part in extensive teambuilding, feedback and assesment sessions before the race and during port stopovers.

Creating curriculum material for use in schools and colleges for the teaching of technical subjects such as computer repair, networking, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, automotive systems, that utilised a bespoke on screen training system. Led a team putting together a curriculum for teaching electronics at GCSE Level. Proofreading and checking for technical accuracy material written by authors and the correct operation of any hardware involved. Providing telephone support to customers, and advising on technical installation of the software and hardware. Liaising with sales, marketing, manufacturing departments to bring new courses to the market, and support the sales team in promoting the products.
