Speaker/Voice Talent
I've occasionally provided various voice performances in French for several products over the last few years, among which:The character of Lafayette in Assassin's Creed 3 (Ubisoft)for Synthesis International (2012)Various voices for French educational audio books (Mondadori Education)for Mondial Sound S.R.L (2009-2012)Voice-overs for nautical documentaries (The Nautical Channel)for Cyrano Traduzioni (2011-2012)
Audio Engineer/Audio Project Manager Assistant
As a sound engineer committed to recording voices for the Italian video game localization market, I oversaw projects for many AAA titles from important publishers.(Skyrim, Dead Space 2 & 3, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty series...).During this time, for each project, I:- Evaluated technical (recording environment, hardware and software) and temporal (defining time slots for pre- and post-production in compliance with projects already under way) assets at disposal and reported to the project managers.- Examined closely during pre-production all source material (text, audio, videos) provided by project managers and translation teams- Worked with several Italian voice talents during recordings and pick-ups, setting up the studio and recording equipment, and assisting them throughout the sessions.- Used recording software and hardware in studio, constantly monitoring quality (volume, compression levels, mic distance, etc) and adequate mirroring of the source material (recording on fixed lengths, or recording lip-sync over a video track).- Often gave valuable input and advice on artistic and linguistic aspects during and outside of studio time. (Adapting and making corrections to the translated material, talent direction, etc).- Organized and cut recorded tracks into individual files, naming them, usually script-wise.- Used editing software to apply special effects and/or conform to target specs.- Worked closely with audio QA team to maximize quality during post-production (cleaning room or throat sounds, normalizing decibel levels, etc) and eventually with linguistic QA team during beta-testing phase for final pickups and effects.- Organized audiobase production (file auditing, renaming, archiving) into implementation-ready delivery packages (on staggered or scheduled basis).
Linguistic Qa Tester
Intermittently assigned to linguistic QA within the company, I would work as part of a team to ensure quality implementation of all localized material into the game by the developers, and report accordingly and on a daily basis to the publishers or developers, through the team leaders.Having worked on products such as Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Assassin's Creed 3, I:-Examined the initial game builds and proceeded to configure and run them on the desired debugging platforms (Nintendo DS & Wii, Playstation®3, Xbox 360, Windows).- Played through the levels with or without debug cheats, checking the overall quality of all localization aspects, but mostly of the implementation process.- Made on-the-fly corrections to the game script when possible (in accordance with the translators/proofreaders) and proceeded to submit to developer for re-implementation, to prevent on-screen text formatting issues (text overlapping with another element or being cut off from the screen).- Compiled bug reports on a daily, sometimes twice-daily basis for all eventualities that required direct action from the developers.- Evaluated bug priorities - Performed regressions- Revised all specific terminologies in order to help the publishers pass submission.- Maintained constant contact with other departments so as to provide an instant response to any given problem.
Translator/Proofreader
As a translator committed to localizing text material (box art, manuals and on-screen text) for the French video game market, I have worked, as part of a team, on many AAA titles from important publishers (Square Enix, Disney Interactive, Namco Bandai, Electronic Arts, Sony Entertainment).During this time, for each project as a translator I:- Handled requests from the team supervisor, considering word counts and the allotted time.- Maintained constant contact with the assigned proofreader and other team members, for complete coherence behind a particular initiative or artistic choice that was made, whether in tone or in words.- Prepared Q&A reports at the publisher's attention through which I gained valuable information regarding context and content.- Oversaw the compliance with specific terminology, whether pertaining to a given product (previous games from a same franchise, or games under a movie licence), or to submission-compliant terminology for the various platforms (Playstation, Xbox, Windows, etc). When assigned to proofreading other teammates' translations I would pursue the same rule set and work ethics, except the main focus would shift from the artistic aspect to the technical aspect.Indeed I:- Ensured the source format and lengths were respected.- Checked for any "illegal" characters, notoriously problematic during implementation into most game engines (double spaces, accented characters, brackets...)- Gave feedback to teammates regarding quality and terminology,- Executed final file formatting for delivery.
