David Applebaum has nearly four decades of experience as a political and policy strategist with deep experience in state and local issues management in the public and private sectors, as well as working with Regional Transmission Organizations in the Northeastern U.S. and Canada. Born and raised in New Jersey and engaged on issues and political campaigns from his early twenties, David's political and policy experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to two U.S. Representatives, as well as serving as Director of Policy and Planning for New Jersey's Governor. Among his responsibilities in the Governor's Office, David was liaison for emergency management, including storm and emergency response and operational continuity. He also served as a member of the Governor's Management Review Commission, responsible for identifying efficiencies in government; and as a member of the New Jersey State Commission on Ethical Standards.In the private sector, David was Director of Business Development for Ballard Generation Systems, a subsidiary of Vancouver-based fuel cell developer Ballard Power Systems; Vice President for Government and Community Relations for New York-based Sithe Energies, Inc., an independent power company; and most recently Senior Director of Regulatory & Political Affairs at NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, the world's leading producer of electricity from the wind and sun and a world leader in energy storage. During his 22-year tenure with both NextEra Energy Resources and Sithe Energies, David was responsible for managing legislative, regulatory and community matters at the state and local levels, as well as representing the companies at the Regional Transmission Organizations covering New York, PJM, New England and Ontario.David has served as a member of the Board of Directors of multiple trade organizations, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Mercer County College (New Jersey) and was a member of the Leadership New Jersey Class of 1988. Active in the Arc of Palm Beach County and Special Olympics, David resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
