  I studied Landscape Architecture at Sheffield University (Master of Arts) , followed by employment in the landscape section of the former Greater Manchester Council planning department, during which I becamea professional member of the Institute of Landscape Architecture (now the Landscape Institute). Projects included River Valley master-planning studies, derelict land reclamation, civic realm, country park design and implementation. Became a senior lecturer at the former Manchester Polytechnic specialising in horticulture and plant sciences and second year tutor. Left to start a private practice in 1983.Projects have included The Liverpool Garden Festival,- theme garden design, Chelsea Flower Show - Gold medal for the Bee Garden, Merseyside Development Corporation infrastructure projects, Trafford Park Development Corporation infrastructure projects, Road landscape for the Welsh Office, Open space design for Central Lancashire Development Corporation, Currently working on infrastructure projects and new settlements. Have given evidence as an expert witness with leading Counsel acting for major developers in over 100 public inquiries. I am an Associate member of the Arboricultural Association and have undertaken numerous tree surveys and impact assessments in accordance with best practice.
