From 7 December 2009 I worked as a Consultant at Goodman Tavendale Reid, a central Christchurch commercial law firm. I advised on all aspects of New Zealand and UK employment law. I left GTR in April 2011 as a result of an earthquake related redundancy.

I was an equity partner in the Employment and Incentives Department (EID) of Lewis Silkin LLP until the end of July 2009, when I left to emigrate to New Zealand with my wife. I specialised in UK employment law for 15 years, and helped to develop the EID over those years into one of the UK's leading employment departments.Over the years I advised a range of household name clients (such as BAA Airports Limited, Dell Computers, Levi Strauss, Pret a Manger and the Financial Times) on the full range of UK employment law issues. This included executive contracts, discrimination law, defending employment tribunals, dismissals, performance management and health and safety to name just a few.I also trained clients and staff and played a key role in managing and coaching staff.During my time at Lewis Silkin it grew its employment law department into one of the most well respected in the UK.
