Jr Systems Administrator / Tier 2 Support Technician

EXELIS Systems Corporation, June 2012 – PresentResponsible for the administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of site level servers. Install new, and/or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Operate and maintain all aspects of server administration to include but not limited to: Microsoft 2008 Active Directory, Windows Internet Name Service (WINS), Domain Name System (DNS), Domain Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), the daily administration of Exchange servers (2008 or higher) and Outlook Web Access (OWA). Responsible for the management of Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Provide User and Microsoft Exchange account maintenance as required to include creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, backups and performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions as well as maintaining antivirus and security requirements by US Army standards and regulations. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities, and configure or add new services as necessary. Repair and recover hardware or software failures as well as coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Provided up to Tier III technical support per request from various constituencies to include but not limited to laptops, workstation/server repair, printer /scanner /copier repair, and network connectivity issues.

Provides professional laptop/desktop support and customer service to James Irwin Charter schools Teacher and Staff. Work involves troubleshooting hardware problems and repairing or referring to another repair facility as appropriate. Installs, troubleshoots, configures and repairs software issues for Windows OS and Microsoft Office 2007. Troubleshoots and resolves network connectivity issues at the desktop level. Joins PCs to local Domains as required. Configures local PC connections to network printers. Performs custom TCP/IP configurations of desktops as required. Troubleshoots Outlook / Microsoft Exchange Server connectivity issues. Installs and troubleshoots other software and peripheral devices as required by the customer. Performs other Service Desk functions as required.
