Lead on retail modelling, impact assessments and general retail planning advice for both public and private sector clients.

My role as an Associate at Peacock and Smith was essentially one of project management. I coordinated the preparation and submission of multiple planning applications for large and medium scale retail/commercial development projects.I found that early involvement in the development process adds great value to the quality of my professional advice so I monitored emerging development plans for 'opportunity sites' and prepared site appraisals evaluating their development potential. When a suitable site is identified I devised strategies for optimising planning gain.Most of my clients were in the retail sector and I analysed forecast expenditure growth in defined catchment areas to ascertain the level of capacity for new retail floorspace, I also calculated the trading performance of existing operators across a range of sectors which allows me to demonstrate when the impact of a proposed development scheme should be considered acceptable in the context of the government's national planning policy.

I worked on a number of planning applications for diverse development projects such as large out-of-centre retail park developments, new foodstore applications and shopping centre extensions.I prepared both sequential and retail impact assessments for a range of major schemes, and I coordinated the construction of a section of the company website exploring TA's growing experience in dealing with planning issues in the financial sector.

I served a variety of both public and private sector clients on a range of projects including large town centre retail developments, urban extensions and mixed use development schemes. I prepared retail needs assessments for local planning authorities and contributed to a number of bespoke retail strategies and reports.
