As the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO), I play a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth and financial assets of MVE + Partners. I am responsible for collaborating with the Board of Directors and other key positions to define the organization’s long-term strategy and goals by overseeing financial management and operational direction. This position will also help to identify business development opportunities to ensure the long-term success and profitability of the company.

- Launched a start-up land development and entitlement company that has acquired over 25,000 lots in Southern California since its inception - Conceived business strategy to market entitled lots to merchant builders in Southern California - Managed consultant teams and interfaced with government agencies on city, state and federal levels to obtain entitlements for properties - Met with project opponents to bridge the divide between growth and no-growth which involved creative financial solutions and strategies to achieve profit and prevent lengthy project delays and lawsuits - Prepared budgets and schedules for financial partners updating cash flows and cost details quarterly - Responsibilities required strategic thinking, organizational skills and problem solving while managing the consultant team, government agencies and the general public.

- Responsibilities included hiring accounting personnel and formation of accounting policies and procedures for a start-up homebuilder in Orange County - Negotiated land contracts with major landowners and consultant contracts - Performed project due diligence, market research and project feasibility - Interfaced with Canadian parent reporting monthly and quarterly financial results and budgets - Also responsible for producing five-year business plan with emphasis on land strategy to maximize return on capital - Managed the accounts payable staff and controller and worked on team building and conflict resolution with various departments - Handled personnel legal issues with an emphasis on rapid solution and de-escalation of production conflicts - Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as financial management and operations management was necessary - Efforts required a commitment to workplace diversity and fairness to all staff members

- Responsibilities included acquisition of various land tracts for Lewis Homes in Orange, San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties for residential, commercial, retail, and multi-family uses - Identified and acquired numerous in-fill projects in the above listed markets - Was responsible for chairing land committee with other members of Senior Management on a weekly basis which required communication skills, detailed project analysis and understanding of the markets on both a micro and macro level - Financial analysis and ability to recognize impediments to development and success was paramount.
