Whether building hand-made telescopes with my father, meeting Sir Patrick Moore in my teens or the inspiration that came from the most eloquent Carl Sagan’s ‘Cosmos’.Building upon an exemplary career delivering substantial benefits and tangible impact for development, infrastructure and investment programmes across business, and a First class honours degree in Natural Science (Astronomy and Planetary Science), I am currently meshing these experiences with the capstone science of a PhD at the Open University, exploring transiting exoplanets with the PIRATE telescope facility on Tenerife, contributing results and data to the ARIEL mission and ExoClock project. With a wide range of experience from Science, Business and beyond this, my status as a trusted mentor allows me to empower & support people early in their careers. I enjoy photography, countryside walks and the works of HP Lovecraft.I have also consulted for the noted Sci-Fi writer Gavin G Smith on his book The Beauty of Destruction and received his published acknowledgment - “Thanks to Dave Arnot for astrophysics advice.
