Understanding that education is a critical element for adopting UAS in Oregon I have created material for many different audiences to be used throughout the state. Reinforcing the agency’s stance on the safe and compliant UAS integration in state government is portrayed through presentations, pamphlets, press releases, web-based content, FAQ’s and other various forms of material that I have delivered around the state.As the UAS lead for the division, I assist Oregon’s state and local government agencies to create compliant UAS programs through strategy, compliance, and collaboration. Working through aviation I provide UAS updates to state policymakers and agency leaders in order to continue to build state UAS involvement and legislation for owning and operating UAS in Oregon. The ODA outlines UAS operation for state agencies and to assist public agencies I provide solutions through collaboration with private industry, interpretation of statutes and rules, program consultation and policy review. The Oregon Department of Aviation owns and operates 28 general aviation airports throughout the state. While being responsible for communicating state UAS legislation to public agencies I also act as a direct representative of our airports and respond to public inquiries.
