My name is David and I’m the Founder of Funding Focus, a social enterprise whose mission is to level the uneven playing field that female and underrepresented entrepreneurs face when raising capital. I'm the author of “Add then Multiply – How small businesses can think like big businesses and achieve exponential growth” which won the Business Self Development category at the 2020 Business Book Awards. In 2019, I was speaking at an event about fundraising for SME businesses. After my talk a woman asked me why so little funding goes to female entrepreneurs. I’m embarrassed to say, but at the time I wasn’t aware that this was an issue. What a difference a little knowledge makes!That was the genesis of Funding Focus. We run events and are tapping into a global audience of under-represented entrepreneurs. Basically, entrepreneurs who aren’t white men. You see, there are two very different playing fields when it comes to raising funding to grow your business: one for white men and another for everyone else. Don’t get me wrong, raising funding is hard work for every entrepreneur. It’s a full-time job. I know, because I've raised more than $150 million. Nonetheless, if you aren’t a white man then you face an uphill challenge. I’m here to level the playing field.As a result of the gross injustices I have discovered, I gave a TEDx talk “The Fight for Fairer Funding” and wrote my second book “Funded Female Founders - How to traverse the uneven playing field and secure funding to grow your business”. My dream is to speak about this at the United Nations.I am also the Founder of Add then Multiply, a consultancy that guides entrepreneurs on a journey of exponential growth.
