As Founder and Owner of DBS-Landscape Architecture, David started on his path to full-fill a long-desired dream of owning and operating his own landscape architectural design firm.As Founding Prinicpal he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of his firm's activities, from implemenation of his design vision, to management of day to day business operations.With David at the Helm of DBS, the firm has managed to capture a niche market in the realm of luxury estates and high-end custom residences. Design efforts and projects range from prestigious residential communities in Southern California such as Newport Harbor Coves, Palmilla at Nigel Summit, and the Strand at Headlands, to the distinctive Los Angeles County neigborhoods of Baldwin Hills and Beverly Hills.David believes in the 'Beauty of Nature and the Art of Design', and is passionate in his mission to create beautiful gardens and meaningful outdoor spaces which become sanctuaries in our busy lives. DBS therefore, strives to design landscapes that make us pause and take notice, and that provide possibilities for us to reconnect with nature and our fellow human beings.As owner of DBS, David has firmly established the firm's design philosophy of custom-tailoring the firm's design services to fit a specific project type and needs. Through his leadership, DBS embraces working closely with their clients throughout all stages of design of a project, to attain client consensus. Furthermore he has set forth the firm's standard for high quality control through continuous Owner/Principal involvement, careful budget preparation, diligent design documentation, and field observation.

As a Principal and Director of Design, David's project-visioning, art direction, and leadership skills were instrumental in directing all aspects of design for HRP Studio's projects during his tenure.As one of HRP Studio's Design Directors, David focused on the conceptionalization of landscape architecture design & planning on all types of projects including: national & international efforts, urban planning & design, high-density residential & urban infill, high-profile sports & entertainment venues, retail lifestyle centers, mixed-use, hospitality & leisure, residential master-planned communities and model home complexes.David lead his Design Studio Associates and directed the firm's work group production teams through all phases of design, including but not limited to: preparation of analysis/site planning, visioning & programming, conceptual & refined conceptual design, and design development presentation packages and milestone presentations to the client and project team.His responsibilities also included coordination with all four Principal Studio Teams, through presentation graphics, design refinement, budget formation, themeing & material selection, and construction documents phases.In addition, his office duties were comprised of design scheduling of all office projects, and coordination of design team specific tasks & responsibilities, as well as assisting Principal Studio Leaders in scope of work, and contract valuation efforts, while managing and mentoring design studio personnel, and production staff.As a part of the Principal Leadership Team, David also participated heavily in the firms' business development and marketing efforts, and in maintaining existing customer relationships.

During his 'career-shaping' tenure as Principal and Sr. Project Director, with one of the industry’s leading international hospitality and resort design firms, David developed a focused specialty in leisure-resort & hospitality design and project management, as well as an in-depth understanding of gaming-resorts and entertainment-oriented mixed-use projects.His responsibilites included directing one of two studio teams consisting of 5-6 project managers, through implementation of a wide variety of landscape architecture & planning projects including: national & international, high-end gaming & resort, hospitality & leisure, high density residential & mixed-use, retail lifestyle centers, residential masterplanned communities, model home complexes, and luxury single-family residence projects. His primary tasks included leading his office studio team through the design & construction documents process and production of appropriate milestone packages, from inception & conceptualization, through budgeting, design development, schematics & construction documents, to project coordination & installation phases.As a Principal he participated in all levels of client & consultant team meetings from initial project site visit & design charette participation, to design presentation meetings to the client and public agencies on the client's behalf, through project scheduling, budgeting and construction coordination meetings with the project team.As head of his design & production work group, David participated in in-house design review meetings with design studio staff, and orchestrated and lead design & production scheduling meetings with his project managerial, and production staff.In addition he lead his studio team through construction administration & coordination phases, performed field observation, met and coordinated with field personnel, consultants and contractors, and assisted in determining extra services, scope of work, and contract preparation efforts.
