Offshore Multi Discipline Engineer. I managed a team of over 20 people, including schedulers, work preparators, senior technicians and maintenance technicians in all offshore trades to carry out a wide variety of preventative and reactive maintenance tasks across the Centrica Morecambe Bay field of 3 bridge linked manned platforms and 7 normally unmanned installations. I was also responsible for the management of a small team of scaffolders, riggers, ops assistants and deck crew in support of maintenance activities. I worked with the senior management team and my maintenance team to deliver safe, reliable operations and maintain safety critical systems within the criteria laid down in the performance standards. I regularly participate in investigation of causes of failure to find root cause, including managing equipment trip reports, RCA and 5y’s sessions. I work with regulatory authorities, (ICP, HSE, DECC etc.) to demonstrate compliance to relevant standards. I am involved in carrying out operational risk assessments where safety critical equipment is degraded to ensure correct mitigation is in place to reduce risk to an acceptable level. I attend a shift handover meeting every morning and evening to discuss safety, planned work for the next 72 hours, emerging work and production focus areas. I also attend an OIM’s evening meeting to review safety and daily departmental performance. I work with my scheduler to build weekly plan, then execute work in an efficient manner. I track compliance against the plan and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of maintenance delivery and safety performance. I have been heavily involved in projects to replace obsolete systems offshore including the replacement of Fire & Gas/ESD systems, replacement of turbine control and governor systems, Installation and upgrades of fuel gas compression systems and fiscal metering systems. As part of my role I also assess competence and carry out internal verification of competence.

Responsibilities included managing a multi-discipline team of production and operation technicians to operate the plant to produce gas to nominated flow rates and deliver first line maintenance. Equipment responsible for included 2 x Rolls-Royce RB211 powered gas compression trains, 4 x Siemens TB5000 turbine driven generation sets. Gas/ liquid separation and TEG dehydration facilities, several wellhead platforms and associated utility and safety systems. My role also included implementing the Safe System of Work as main issuing authority on the Central complex (MCPC) including the design and authorisation of all isolations for intrusive work. I had to deal with plant breakdowns as they occurred 24 hours a day while on shift. I still maintain my competency in this role by carrying out holiday and short term sickness cover as required.
