I am a Chartered Patent Attorney and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and have over 25 years’ experience with chemical and engineering patents; and designs and trade marks. Highlights and particular strengths include:- successfully prosecuting complex pharmaceutical cases, with a high success rate in getting difficult cases granted.- considerable experience of oral proceedings at the European Patent Office (EPO), before the Examining and Opposition Divisions and before the Boards of Appeal.- working with university inventors from initial spin out stage through fundraising rounds to professional management. I have experienced the vast amount of work spin outs and start-ups invest in their companies and endeavour to make the intellectual property side run as smoothly as possible by providing practical, commercial advice.I also have many years of experience working on IP in the consumer products field, including:- considerable contentious experience, acting for right-holders and, particularly, defending against threats.- particular experience in advising on designing around protected products.I spent time in industrial research with a multinational chemical research company, prior to training as a patent attorney.
