Improved the lab bench processing of the Hydrating Cream formula containing Microcare Silicone W1800. Documented and implemented a stability test protocol based on the stability test methods at Unilever and Conair. Blended and stability tested the Natural Lotion with Microcare Quat EQG. Assisted in the development of disinfectant wipes containing Acticde BAC 80 for Rockline Industries. Formulated and stability tested a Natural Hair Conditioner showcasing Microcare Quat EQG. Stability tested and improved the stability of an Ethnic Leave in Conditioner that employed Thor’s conditioning quat, Microcare Quat EQG. Formulated and stability tested a Conditioning Shampoo with Microcare Quat EQG and Microcare SBB Preservative. Improved the cold temperature stability of the Conditioning Body Wash formula with Microcare Amide BHAM.

Improved the shelf life stability of the Aquage® line of shampoo products. Addressed stability issues found in the Aquage® Transforming Paste formula, a styling paste for hair based on lanolin wax. Stability tested alternate raw material vendors for cost savings. Currently working on Proclaim® Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the Beyond the Zone Fruit Fragrance Shampoos and Conditioner for Sally Beauty.

Worked on the Structure project to suspend fragrance endcaps using density matched endcaps and hydrophobically modified alkali swellable acrylic thickeners. Assisted the project Oleum team in testing various surfactants, soil suspending, and repelling polymers in the removal of human dust sebum from cotton and polyester fabric. Currently working to develop a premium brand detergent to compete with P&G’s Tide Color Defense Laundry Detergent.

Worked a 3-month contract in the skin care group batching preproduction formulas for stability testing. Ran and maintained the stability program while providing management with critical data on these important formulas.

Assisted in the launch of the Prestone Radiator Stop Leak, Prestone Engine Block Sealer, and the Prestone Head Gasket Sealer. Currently developing a Heavy Duty Prestone Radiator Cleaner for tractor trailer trucks to remove heavy corrosion, scale deposits, and oil contamination. Developing an improved formula for the Prestone Radiator Flush plus Cleaner.

Formulated, claims tested, and scaled up for production an aerosol version of Prestone® Wheel Cleaner. Formulated, claims tested and scaled up for production a cleaning wipe under the brand name Blink for interior automotive applications. Provided technical expertise for the Prestone® Ice and Frost Shield project for which a patent was awarded. Developed a method using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to gauge the attack of aqueous cleaning formulations on polymeric aerosol can liners. Assisted in the development of a Wheel Protect which imparts stay clean characteristics to a hard surface by employing superhydrophobic nano particle technology. Responsible for the chemical inventory of the laboratory.

Formulated, claims tested, and scaled up for production an Interior Cleaner with Odor Neutralizer that was sold under the Prestone® brand. A patent was obtained for this novel formulation. Formulated an Interior Automotive Protectant that had ten times the UV absorbance as the leading competitor. Researched, developed, formulated and tested a self cross-linking water-based styrene acrylic coating for protection of exterior automotive surfaces for which a patent was applied.

Formulated, claims tested, and scaled up for production a low VOC summer windshield washer fluid under the name Prestone® Bug Wash. Formulated, claims tested, and scaled up for production a High Protection Car Wax. This was part of a high priority project for Wal-Mart for which special recognition was awarded.

Determined response factors for various hydrocarbons in soil field samples sent to the company by current and potential customers. Conducted testing with the HydroScout meter, a meter which analyzes samples for water content, to determine response curves for water content in various oils. Evaluated various hydrides for their reaction with water in the HydroScout meter. Analyzed customer waste oil sample for As, Cd, Cr, and Pb using an ICP spectrophotometer as well as Cl and S using an Ion Chromatograph.

Research Chemist responsible for the development of inkjet inks for industrial applications. Formulated the V-300 ink which became the top selling ink for bar codes on corrugated cardboard.
