I have been cycling around the World in journeys of 1000 - 2500 miles over a number of years. I have written short articles for relevant magazines and give motivational and educational talks about my experiences.

A senior staff member at WKRS a Specialist SEN College for 16yrs, appointed as Deputy Head, for 7yrs I have been Vice Principal. I had held senior positions in two other special schools and a comprehensive school. First post was in a Secondary school in Kent where I taught for 5yrs.Since working in the SEN sector I have developed my professional qualifications. Completed Advanced Diploma –in ‘Assessment of Learning and Behavioural Difficulties’- MEd. at Liverpool University,- dissertation on ‘Art and the development of Language with Young People with SEN’. Completed NPQH (2006) andnumerous shorter courses.My key roles at school are wide ranging, including; co-ordination of our status as a Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Specialist College for Pupils with Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties. Involving; developing and supporting partnerships with communities, colleges and schools locally, nationally and internationally, management of the school’s School Evaluation Form (SEF) and assessment systems, I am proud of my involvement in a school which has, since the system’s inception, achieved an extremely high CVA (Contextualised Value Added score) – In 2010 the Y6 – Y11 was 1092.10 the highest on Merseyside and one of the highest in the UK. I am also very involved in the Continuous Professional Development of staff. I continue a teaching commitment and am proud of the achievement of good GCSEs, AS and A levels in the only subject I now teach – ‘Photography’.I am proud of having started numerous aspects of school which are now normal practice, including; School Council, Mini Play (Drama) Day, ‘Themed Days’ and our School Magazine, and have also planned and supported various major projects with pupils and through ‘bids’ which I have completed to various organisations. My recent bid for WKRS to be successfully re-designated as a specialist SEN SSAT college was accepted - currently my application for CPD Mark is being assessed.
