CurrentAs Co-Founder and (volunteer) CEO of Ultimate Peace, I lead this international non-profit organization. We build bridges of trust, friendship, and leadership among Middle Eastern youth (self identified Arabs, Jews, and Palestinians) using the character-based sport of Ultimate as our tool. Thousands of youth have been part of the program from around the region and have stayed engaged over multiple years; they are hungry for what the game and its values offer. Ultimate is played without referees, so conflict resolution must become a core competency of every player. The 3-year intensive young leadership (LIT) project has worked with over 200 young people, many of whom are applying their acquired peace-building skills in colleges, workplaces, and communities around the world; deep cross-cultural friendships endure that would never have otherwise formed. We pride ourselves in applying our 5-step developmental model that we designed specifically for working with youth in the region. Due to the ongoing and escalating conflicts in the Middle east, our program needed to adapt and rebuild; nonetheless we continue to work in communities and create opportunities for our participants and graduates to stay connected.Applying lessons learned, we have recently expanded the program to include a North American summer camp, a gender equity program in India, and a cross-cultural community program in Colombia.
