While working at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands, I was given the opportunity to grow. I started as a programmer and ended as the IT Director. I worked with amazing people that started as colleagues, became employees, and are still today, great friends. Through efforts of that team, we were given the resources needed to grow the brands to the point that other companies desired to acquire portions of our great company. The initial reason for hiring me was the need to increase the reporting of royalty collection from TCBY franchisees. We started at 14% reporting. In less than six months, we were able to increase that to over 90% by creating an intranet for our franchisee and working with the point of sale vendors to seamlessly report the numbers. In turn, we were able to provide the franchisees a better understanding of what their colleagues were seeing in their brand by aggregating the data accumulated via the intranet. Internally, we were able to institute a help desk to better support the staff at the franchisee support center. With this in place we were able to work hand in hand with every division and prioritize the work to optimize throughput in IT. Executive dashboards were built to understand key merits of the business and allow executives to make better, more informed decisions. Because of the growing success of the mail order division, we became extremely well versed in Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. This helped improve processes and mitigate a myriad to future legal battles down the road. Because of my great team, we were able to bring in house, many costly externally designed websites and do some extremely large software changes and upgrades under budget and on time.
