About David Barrett
My focus is on the development of novel immunotherapies for cancer. Primarily this involves how T cells can be modified in the lab to make them more effective at fighting cancer. The most prominent example is the use of Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells (CART), which I worked on the development of from 2008 to today. Part of my work led to the first FDA approved gene-modified cell therapy for cancer, now known as Kymriah. With experience both in the lab and in the clinic, I am well positioned to advance cellular therapies for cancer that are practical, safe and effective.
