Responsible to investigate all Fire claims referred by the claim department. Evaluate and investigate Fire origin and cause cases; direct/manage investigations with experts. Participate in and approve the hiring of experts. Testify as to findings in court as appropriate. Assist legal counsel for litigation management, including development of legal strategies and preparing experts to testify. Recognize and develop a plan of action to investigate origin and cause Fire claims as they relate to subrogation and arson. Coordinate findings with other SIU units and claim departments throughout the country. Collect, identify, and safeguard all evidence necessary to the determination of an origin and cause Fire claim. Maintain a chain of evidence.
