Directly responsible for the financial reporting of the resort’s ski, golf, lodging and F&B operations, oversight of the HOA associations, and private water company with total revenues grossing $30M. Sugarloaf boasts at being one of the largest ski resorts in New England and includes a Trent Jones designed golf course. Lodging operations consist of a 119 unit Hotel, a 24 unit inn and roughly 200 condo units in the rental pool. Direct reports include Director of IT, Director of Property Management, Tickets Manager, Cash Room Mgr, night audit (2) as well as general accounting staff (4). While here implemented daily and weekly operational reports that provided guidance such that although revenue had declined by nearly 5% we achieved the most profitable 3 years in Sugarloaf history as well as hiring and training the accounting department top to bottom.

Responsible for $500M project budget for a planned golf and ski resort plus oversight of financial reporting and $5M operating budget of ski resort while also leading 3 accounting staff. Developed budget and corresponding models for tracking project costs, worked directly with legal team to write Condo Association Documents, and dealt directly with vendors and contractors in producing contract documents. Managed operations of two quasi-public utilities and dealt with the State of Vermont Public Service Board for annual rate increases

Responsible for the financial reporting and complete fiscal management of a holding company that owned four companies and other smaller investments totaling revenues of nearly $20M. Lead a team of five accounting staff to manage a property development firm, heavy site and general construction company, commercial and residential property management firm, and one ski resort. Other duties included preparing work papers for annual audit and tax returns, managing company insurance policies, administering company profit sharing and health insurance plans, managing daily operating cash needs and dealing with banks and leasing companies for capital financing.

Managed the financial reporting, Human Resources and Payroll, and general office administration of a 100+ year old legacy country club/homeowner association. Produced work papers for 1120H, 990 and 990T tax returns and annual audit, assisted General Manager by producing reliable budgets and financial reports in order to control costs, managed club’s insurance policies, and administered company pension and health insurance programs.

Worked in a public accounting firm completing Corporate and Partnership tax returns and providing compilation services to clients.

Started accounting career in position of staff accountant in 1987. Principal duties focused on investment accounting and accounting system maintenance through six years in department. During my tenure I revamped the bank reconciliation process, initiated a number of system improvements, and repeatedly projected investment income within less than a 1 percent variance.
