Stemming from my post-Doctoral work at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, I joined the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering with the objective of merging my interests in ocean sensing and robotics. During this time, I was Co-PI with Professors Henrik Schmidt and John Leonard on research projects involving autonomous underwater vehicles and various modes of sensing, imaging, navigation and communication. I was responsible for coordinating the MIT contributions to three large international experiments, mentoring graduate students and liaising with vehicle manufacturers and other participating institutions. As a result of my extensive operational and systems integration experience with Bluefin Robotics vehicles, I consider myself an expert in AUV operations and associated technologies such as power systems, navigation, communications and human factors. In the Spring of 2004, I lectured MIT graduate course 13.811: Advanced Structural Dynamics and Acoustics with Professors Henrik Schmidt and Tomasz Wierzbicki.
