  • Geek Squad
    Counter Intelligence Agent
    Geek Squad Nov 2008 - Jul 2012
    Us
As one of the most senior Geek Squad Agents at my location, I speak to clients about their computing needs and either simply advise them on the proper course of action or I repair the issues that they are experiencing. For higher level issues I act as a representative of my company and I present to and sell clients our computer repair services. When payment is required I collect client payment and process it at standard POS systems. I am currently ranked as one of the highest Agents in client satisfaction at my location.Virus removals, system imaging/re-imaging, hardware installations/configurations/troubleshooting, software installations/configurations/troubleshooting, client-side network troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on desktops and laptops make up the majority of my technical duties at Geek Squad. I am currently one of the highest level technicians on my repair bench. The full scope of work, however, is very broad due to the fact that I work in retail IT. Clients can come in with virtually any problem imaginable and it is my job to solve these issues in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and abiding by strict guidelines set forth by my employer. This also requires heavy use of an in-depth ticketing system used to create, track, modify, and close service tickets for clients. This system is also used for shipping and receiving client and company units to and from our various service centers.
  • Best Buy
    Customer Specialist
    Best Buy Feb 2008 - Nov 2008
    Richfield, Minnesota, Us
As a Customer Specialist, my main duty was to talk to customers and ensure that they got not only the products that they needed, but that they had an excellent experience at Best Buy. I would never simply get a computer for a customer, hand it to him/her, and walk away. Rather, I would always ask the customer what they were looking for and find what suits their needs the best. I broke down technical terms and explanations very well using simple terms and analogies for customers so that they always walked away from the sale understanding what it is that they bought. I received customer compliments on a regular basis due to me making things as easy to understand and enjoyable as possible. During downtime, I was required to clean and organize my department and stock shelves to their full capacity in order to keep my department looking and performing as well as possible.
  • Teksystems
    Analyst 1
    Teksystems May 2007 - Jul 2007
    Hanover, Md, Us
I held several contracts over the Summer of 2007, the first being IT support for Saks Fifth Avenue. In this contract, my first duty was to assist in correcting a company wide issue having to do with a certain version of their antivirus crashing all of their stores' PC's. My responsibility was to call my assigned stores and get an employee and physically walk to the computer that was experiencing the issue. Once the employee reached the computer I led them through properly uninstalling the bugged version and installing the patched version. I personally called approximately 50 stores, repeating the walk through process each time. After this antivirus issue was under control, my next task was to upgrade a number of legacy machines from Windows 95 to Windows 98. I was to perform necessary hardware upgrades on each unit to prepare it for the new operating system and then image each unit with a customized image of Windows 98. Afterwards the unit would be boxed up and sent back to the store that it came from.My second contract entailed going around to various schools in Cecil County, MD, and help to set up new Macintosh computers for use. My responibility was to unbox the units and connect all of the peripherals plus power and ethernet into them. After that was completed, my partner and I network imaged all of the units simultaneously with the schools custom Mac OS set up.
  • Haymaker Technologies
    Technician
    Haymaker Technologies Jan 2007 - May 2007
    Elkridge, Maryland, Us
I was contracted to assist in PC moves at Constellation Energy. The first duty was to arrive at the floor/room(s) scheduled to have PC's moved and read a floor plan of which PC's were to be moved. After determining which PC's were to be moved, I would go unhook any and all peripherals from the PC's and neatly bundle everything together. The next step was to simply wait while a moving crew came in and moved everything from the original location to the new location.Once everything was at the new location, it was my responsibility to put everything back together, sometimes having to set up multiple displays or multiple PC's with KVM switches, and ensure that everything booted properly,
