    As a Deal Manager for State and Local government, I use my expertise in Microsoft's volume license offerings and Government contracting to help both Microsoft and our customers achieve their respective goals. This often involves direct negotiation with government customers to deliver non-programmatic licensing solutions that are in alignment with the regulatory and budgetary environment unique to our government customers.One of the key areas affecting government customers today is how to achieve the primary goal of their given mission of serving their constituents while at the same time driving down cost and complexity. For many of our customers this has involved a move to Microsoft cloud services including Office 365 for productivity and collaboration, and Microsoft Azure for secure compute platform, infrastructure and storage solutions.     As the size and complexity of Federal software contracts grew, it was increasingly important to ensure that Dell was in the right position to identify, pursue and close them, as well as ensure that these contracts were managed to success on an ongoing basis. To this end I transitioned from sales management to the role of Dell Capture Manager for large contract pursuit, capture and program management. During this time I had the responsibility to manage our diverse portfolio of Federal contracts as well as lead the drive to grow through new business development, bids and proposals and improved relationships with our software publisher partners. I worked closely with the Regional Manager for Federal Software and other levels of Dell Management to coordinate this effort and maintain and grow our software sales. This effort lead to the over achievement of our Federal software sales targets in every measurement period and multiple new wins including a multi-year contract at the US Veteran's Administration valued in the hundreds of millions.

    Dell acquired ASAP Software Express in November of 2007. I continued to manage the ASAP Federal sales organization as part of Dell from this point until April 2011. Software sales of the combined organization were in excess of $600 million across multiple software publishers, and with sales to civilian and defense agencies as well as federal integrators. During this time the organization successfully novated the ASAP Software GSA contract to Dell Marketing, LP, integrated the software license tracking technology of ASAP Software's Tracker system into the Dell Order Management System (DOMs), and inserted the ASAP Sales organization into Dell's. Despite a challenging economy and Federal budget environment, the legacy ASAP Software Federal sales team that I lead achieved some of the largest software contracts in the combined organization's history including a five year Blanket Purchase Agreement with the Social Security Administration, a contract with the very first Cabinet Level Agency to move their 120,000 user E-Mail environment to the Microsoft cloud at the US Department of Agriculture, and a five year contract valued in excess of half a billion dollars at the US Department of the Air Force.
