Retirement, you say?I’m not ready to retire just yet and I still have so much to offer a prospective employer. A firefighter, licensed electrician, construction business owner all rolled into one! I possess so many construction and/or fire safety skills to help you manage your projects whether small or large. I am physically fit and still willing and able to put in a good day’s work. I’m a problem solver by nature and I can’t just sit by and watch the little things that make a huge difference just slip by and not get resolved. I’d like to put these skills to use as a consultant or perhaps in a contract position. I’m a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of guy who likes to get the job done. I have had a very productive career to date. I started out working in my hometown paper mill, became an apprentice electrician and eventually obtaining my trades papers as a licenced electrician. In those early years I learned some of my most valuable lessons working within an environment that led me to excellent work habits -- there was no such thing as a job site that was left uncleaned. You put your tools away and made sure that everything was safe and secure for all your co-workers.Next, I made my way to what I see as a fantastic vocation as a firefighter working for the Ottawa Fire Services for my entire career. There I learned to fight fires but also so many other skills like conflict resolution, decision-making, delegation, public speaking, fire investigation and scene management.Never one to sit still for long, I also owned and operated David Beitz Construction which gave me the opportunity to put those project management skills to use. I thrive on taking a project from a plan to reality with all the ins and outs of coordinating sub-trades, ordering materials, dealing with clients and ensuring they are fully satisfied and have a great experience from beginning to end.When I’m not doing all of that, I take a break by participating in or watching every kind of sport under the sun. I even find time to spend with my family and travel to see kids and grandchildren all over the country.
