CurrentI have held many leadership positions, including Chair of the Condominium Law Subcommittee of the Chicago Bar Association, President of the Board of Directors of Community Associations Institute (CAI)-Illinois Chapter, and have served as a member of CAI-Illinois' Legislative Action Committee. I am one of about 200 members nationwide (by induction) of The College of Community Association Lawyers of CAI-National. I enjoy lecturing and writing on community association law and issues, and I have drafted significant condominium and homeowner association legislation. I have participated in many interesting transactions on behalf of condominiums and cooperatives, including the sale of an entire condominium building by the unit owners to a third party; the sale of a portion of the common elements of a condominium for development and merger into the existing condominium; the “swap” of an existing condominium building for a new building whereby all owners acquired units in and moved to a new building; conversion of a garage unit to 202 parking space units; conversion of a residential housing cooperative to condominium; removal of one of two buildings from an association; and negotiation of contracts in connection with Hollywood film and television productions filmed in Illinois condominium associations. Community involvement is important, and I have served on the Village of Long Grove Zoning Board of Appeals, and on the Village of Buffalo Grove Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, as a member of fund allocation panels for the United Way of Lake County, and as a member of the Steering Committee for the Annual Lawyers' Luncheon of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
