My current role is a claims handler. Part of my role is to take inbound phone calls for pet insurance which includes guiding customers through the correct process to claim if their pet has an illness or injury. I also process insurance claims which requires me to settle claims and send out payments and letters to clients. I have a very good knowledge of conditions, medications and the anatomy of a dog/cat which is needed to excel at this role. When we have new starters, they will go in to academy groups which I have supported in the past; I have also worked as a technical claims handler in a seconded role for 3 months. This requires me to be approachable, knowledgeable, confident, fair and influential. My superiors trusted me to make sure my colleagues were well looked after and supported when I was in these roles.

My position at Virgin media was as a sales executive, selling mobile phones and TV, broadband and home phone packages. This role required me to have an excellent knowledge of technology and challenged me to hit monthly targets. I worked in a team, but I was also required to beat my colleagues to sales for my targets to be met. I was also a problem solver as I dealt with technical issues and customer queries.
