I primarily practice in the areas of commercial litigation, intellectual property (including patents, trade marks, copyright and designs), information technology and privacy. I also provide advice to holders of Australian Financial Services Licences in relation to complying with the relevant parts of the Corporations Act, the various ASX Rules and the terms of their licences. I have acted for both public and private clients in relation to a variety of disputes. My practice focuses particularly on disputes under the Corporations Act, shareholder disputes, contractual claims and contentious intellectual property matters in the Federal Court of Australia. I have also worked closely with associated international law firms for the purposes of enforcing a client's intellectual property rights in a variety of jurisdictions. My intellectual property practice extends to the provision of advice to enterprises of a variety of sizes in relation to their intellectual property assets. I have extensive experience in the structuring of agreements dealing with IP rights including complex licensing and assignment arrangements relating to intellectual property assets in the area of energy and resources and the negotiation and drafting of high value IT agreements. In recent times, I have developed a particular focus on social media which has involved me providing advice to clients in relation to their use (and the use by their employees) of social media generally as well as advising in relation to the posting of unlawful content on the internet via social media.
