Responsibilities of the position included:Outreach:--Recruiting Regional Partners to partner with Code.org and school districts to teach Computer Science in K-12 schools.--Presenting Code.org partnership model--Tracking partnership status--Managing and support implementation for all partners in region at K-12 grade levels--Evaluating and support regional partners in becoming a sustainable CS Hub in their area--Implementing partnership model--Assisting regional partners in district, school, and teacher recruitment/selection/retention--Troubleshooting regional partnership issues--Working with Professional Learning & Community team to coordinate regional professional learning workshops for teachers--Marketing and support the program in the region--Representing Code.org and present the partnership model at conferences and other venues, as needed

Provided professional development and consulting to teachers and administrators across Santa Barbara County in the areas of 21st Century Learning, Ed Tech, Computer Science, and History.

· Served as the first Director of the UCLA Computer Science Project and all of its policy, outreach, professional development, research, and financial components. · Managed two National Science Foundation grants totaling 5 million dollars designed to broaden the participation of underrepresented populations in computer science. · Provided training, coaching and consultation to high school computer science teachers focusing on student engagement and learning. · Served as the day-to-day project manager and thought leader to determine which directions to take with teachers and research and evaluation policies. · Provided leadership to Computer Science coaches for best approaches to working with and supporting Computer Science teachers. · Developed partnerships with industry and educational groups to foster student opportunities to learn more about computer science. · Shared modifications to the Exploring Computer Science curriculum as a contributing writer. · Oversaw the planning and coordination to bring over 500 students to UCLA as part of Exploring Computer Science Day at UCLA. · Participated in the reporting of project findings and extension of funding grant application. Awarded a 1.5 million dollar extension grant as a result of those efforts. · Collaborated with a team of writers and leaders in the successfully awarded 12 million dollar Mobilize grant focusing on the use of participatory sensing and computational thinking to develop new approaches for teaching computer science, math, and science. · Supported the strategic planning, development, and implementation designs of Mobilize and acted as Education lead.

Education related services (consulting, research and report writing, etc.) for clients including Google, Teachers' Curriculum Institute, the Computer Science Teachers Association, and Robot Edutainment

• Developed numerous products for history teachers to support history instruction including: Strategic Writing in History, Thinking as an Historian Poster Set, G.R.A.P.E.S. Acronym Poster Set: A Tool for Understanding Ancient Civilizations, Google Earth Projects, and The Forces of History Poster Set. • Sales of G.R.A.P.E.S. set exceeded publisher expectations and is widely used by teachers in the Los Angeles area.

· Acted as a lead designer, developer, and project manager in the creation, revising and editing of District Instructional Guides and Periodic Assessments in History/Social- Science for grades 7, 8, 10, and 11. · Designed and carried out professional development centered on the effective teaching and learning of history, writing in history, meeting the needs of all learners, and utilizing data to inform instruction. · Served as lead writer of district model lessons incorporating primary sources, best practices, and supports for academic reading and writing in history. · Worked as a consultant and coach with numerous history teachers providing resources and assistance in planning and implementing standards-based instruction. · Managed budgets, textbook ordering, and logistics for history programs. · Collaborated with local district superintendent on district-wide policies to support Social Studies related issues. · Participated as a facilitator and reviewer during the District textbook adoption process. · Presented district initiatives involving Social Studies including textbook adoption and service learning to regional administrators.
