KATCO Project Director - Team of 70 people - Budget above 100 M€KATCO was founded in 1996. Its shareholders are AREVA (51%) and the Kazakhstan company KAZATOMPROM (49%), responsible for supervising national nuclear activity and in particular, the mining of natural uranium.Main offices were located in Almaty but most of the 1200 employees are working on the exploration, production and construction sites, located in the Muyunkum desert, in the South Kazakhstan region (around 250 kilometers North of Shimkent).In 2008, AREVA and KAZATOMPROM agreed to increase KATCO uranium production up to 4000 tonnes per year, from 2012. The "KATCO 4000" project was then officially launched Q4 2008 with the objectives of increasing the overall production capacity and upgrading the existing infrastructures.The first phase of work (called "Fast Track" Project) was successfully completed and delivered in July 2010, after 700 000 manhours done in 9 months including winter time. Construction works for the second phase have started in September 2010, as planned.

Drilling Superintendent for the "Virgo" development (fixed platform installed in 1999).Responsible for the drilling & completion activities within the project team in charge of the preparation of the "Matterhorn" field development (Gulf of Mexico, 850 m water depth) based on a SeaStar mini TLP (tension leg platform) and subsea wells, tied-back to the platform using a small work-over unit. Involved in all the pre-project studies and the beginning of the project phase until the drilling operations start-up (which were later completed in the announced time-frame and budget).

Engineering studies in the areas of high pressure / high temperature - HPHT - and ultra deep water drilling: well planning and well construction, drilling mechanics, drilling hydraulics, well control and kick tolerance, extended reach well feasibility, marine drilling riser design.From Sept 1998 to March 1999 (Houston): coordination of the drilling team gathered to technically assist the US subsidiary (Elf Exploration Inc.) in the preparation and the realization of the "Aconcagua" discovery well in the GOM in 2200 m water depth (world record for Elf at the time).Instructor in deep water well control.
