Education / Experience / Skills / Abilities / Professional DevelopmentI completed full time school education, having attained 3 successful grades at ‘A’ Level, 4 at ‘O’ Level and 7 at ‘GCSE’ in a variety of subjects including Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Physics, Chemistry, History and Geography. Driven by an ongoing desire to enhance both existing skills and abilities and develop new ones, I have continued with my personal and professional development. As such I have since undertaken a number of additional studies including degree level work in the field of education, successfully achieving a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Teaching and Training, graduating in 2011. In pursuit of this award I attained additional key supporting qualifications relevant to this role, including PCET – Professional Certificate In Education (Cert Ed) and A1 Assessor. These studies required me to be competent in the use of computers and tablets alongside related software i.e. Microsoft Windows and Apple packages, including PowerPoint, Word, Keynote, Pages and Excel. I have successfully combined and balanced my studies alongside my work, family life and personal commitments; proving myself able to self-motivate, to be well organised and very capable of working under pressure in order to achieve objectives and meet deadlines through effective time management.I was employed as a police officer within Durham Constabulary for 30 years from 1984-2014 in a wide variety of positions, in both front line and back office training roles, including Collision Investigation, Serious & Complex Investigation Team, Core & Roads Policing Tutor Constable, ANPR Training Officer, Equality & Diversity Training Officer, Youth Offending Trainer. From 2014-2016 I was employed in an educational environment with Durham University and Durham County Council Education Department, supervising and supporting young people and International Students. From 2016 to 2020 I was employed by British Red Cross as an Emergency Response Manager / Crisis Response Tutor, continuing to build my skills through ongoing responsibility for reviewing, maintaining and developing several varied training packages. As such I was responsibile for the flexibility of design and delivery, using mixed methodologies based on learning styles to facilitate this. This flexibility allows me to meet changing business needs through tailoring delivery to suit the diverse range of participants from differing backgrounds we engage with, including senior staff, partnership colleagues, community members and volunteers.
