This involved a lot of rework on existing engineering drawings to enable the Chinese to obtain quotations and source parts and assemblies from local manufacturers. Provided continual support and participated in weekly meetings with China. Successfully implemented design changes that in enhanced the product quality and improve the ease of assembly for machines built in Australia and China. Customers were complaining about the heat entering the cabin from the engine through large holes used to run hydraulic hoses. Removed holes and replaced with a series of bulkhead fittings labelled to improve repeatability when hosing up machines. Produced GA and turning circle drawings for conceptual 105T LWC for a mine in China. The drawings were part of a tender process the company was trying to get the contract to supply six machines. These were exposed during code D inspections at the service centres. Changes had to be made to both the component drawings and the diesel engine system approval drawings to guarantee compliance. Some external pressure testing was required to ensure the integrity of the flameproof joints. Supervised a multi stage project that involved modifications to an existing vehicle for the American market. This involved adding a new engine package to a current vehicle, splitting into three sections and implementing changes to meet American regulations. The timeframe for this project was very tight so strict control over the resources was required to meet deadlines. Submission of a number of applications with the mines department, an example being the re-registration of a chock trailer transport braking system. This involved pulling together information from various areas, risk assessments, FMEA’s, and updates to the hydraulic/pneumatic schematics. Ran an FEA analysis on the rear of an existing vehicle to see what effect the addition of a tow hitch would have on the structure.
