About David Blake

In my current role, I help run a large helpdesk which covers all of North East Essex, providing support for all staff and colleagues within the NHS in this area. Part of this role also means I liaise with and dispatch teams of portering, housekeeping and catering staff across the Colchester Hospital site, ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the departments. The environment I work in is often high pressured and demanding and often have to repsond strategically to the ever changing needs of the service in a calm and professional manner. Since I am answerable to several managers, I continually utilise my organisation and time management skills to prioritise and complete a variety of tasks simultaneously, whilst providing a high standard of support. I have excellent keyboard skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and equivalent software packages and I am able to work for prolonged and concentrated periods of time on a PC in order to record information correctly, input data and type reports. I pride myself on my polite, helpful and friendly manner. Though quiet in nature, I am an excellent communicator and good listener and having always worked in client facing roles at different levels, I am confident in my ability to problem solve complaints and concerns; employing respectful good humour when circumstances allow. I am aware of the importance of addressing people in a discreet, confidential and sensitive manner; especially within a medical environment and where vulnerable people may be involved. Working as a Security Guard for several years has given me the chance to develop my negotiation and persuasion skills in order to achieve a desired outcome and gain co-operation from both colleagues and customers.I am also a qualified First Aider and having successfully assisted in helping deliver a baby safely in the hospital car park, feel confident I could act appropriately in an emergency situation, should the need arise.
