Through an acquisition a new US economics team was now part of the Group. It was time to put a new hat on and I changed focus to the UK economy. The excitement of 1997 was the UK election. However, after being the US economist, somehow the UK seemed less thrilling. I asked a senior economist at the time why? I will never forget the response... "You go to a client in the UK sit down and then for the next hour they tell YOU about the UK economy."

Brilliant job, forecasting, writing and presenting on the the US economy during the great inflation scare of 1994. Fed raised rates for the first time in five years, bonds sold off aggressively and the dollar slumped. 1995 was a total reversal of fortunes, Fed cut rates bond yields slumped. These were exciting times. To be the US economist at this time was an honor and a privilege. This set the foundations of my career.
