Maintain and manage Lucinda Jetty Coastal Observatory, a site that measures ocean colour and optical properties of the water and sends this data to IMOS (Integrated Marine Observation System) to validate medium resolution satellite images for colour. Maintain environmental monitoring systems in the Burdekin catchment that monitor topsoil loss and nutrient fluxes into the Barrier Reef lagoon. Work on monitoring instrumentation that is used to quantify nutrient runoff from sugar cane crops in the wet tropics.Currently volunteering at STEM program taking science and technology to schools and with Townsville Suns AFL team providing first aid for under 15 and under 17 squads. Promoted to Application Engineering Manager June 2010. Managing a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers integrating measurement solutions for a variety of environmental and industrial monitoring applications. This position requires consulting with customers from various sectors designing systems, project management and providing technical support to meet the customer's requirements. Among the clients are CSIRO, most Australian universities, government resource management departments and many large engineering and environmental consultancies. Specifically the monitoring includes time domain reflectometry for rock mass deformation and soil moisture, soil pore pressure sensors, vibrating wire transducer technology for depth and strain measurement, optical backscattering for turbidity, automatic water samplers and meteorological monitoring from basic to “high end” stations such as eddy covariance flux stations that quantify CO2 and energy exchange in ecosystems. I have installed in many locations around Australia and South East Asia. As manager I am also responsible for identifying new markets and designing products for these markets as well as project management on some large installations. My knowledge of data logging is excellent and can program these devices easily including using wireless modems for SMS, FTP and e-mail communications as well as remote data access..
