I am a highly experienced Operations and Hospitality Manager, with extensive expertise gained working in leadership, operational and senior strategic roles: working hard always to make commercial ambitions a practical reality. As you might expect, therefore, I am extremely well organised, self-motivated, and have a keen attention to detail that ensures completion of all assigned tasks on time, within budget and to full specification. I also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills (fluent in German and English), as well as being able to work well either as part of a collaborative team or autonomously when required: thriving in fast moving and challenging environments. In my most recent role, as General Manager with the Youth Hostel Association from 2019 to 2022, I demonstrated consistently strong leadership and operational oversight capabilities: ensuring best possible service outcomes to the highest professional standards with a hands on approach and leading by example. I am particularly proud of having exceeded revenue targets by 25% in 2022; improved online review ratings by 0.7% within three months of taking on the role, growing direct online bookings by 30%, and enhancing the NSF audit rating from 65% (red), to 95% (green). I was awarded Best New Hostel Manager, in recognition of having embraced and significantly improved the Association’s existing induction plan. In more day to day terms, amongst other things, I led a team of ten skilled members of staff; drove forward new sales opportunities; ensured five star levels of cleanliness, and played an integral part in a variety of staff recruitment and training programmes.
