Create and deploy the GKN Aerospace Defense Business Line Research, Technology and Product strategies and lead all associated innovation efforts (including IP portfolio management) to achieve the business objectives. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (MBD) Deputy Technical Director Landing Gear and Integration (LGI) Division manages the operational aspects of the LGI Engineering team and is a member of the LGI Executive Committee.Primary responsibilities of the Deputy Technical Director (DTD) are to: (i) Manage the operational priorities and activities within the LGI engineering team in order to best achieve the desired technical outputs (OTD/OQD of technical deliverables, production and customer support, technical event investigations etc.) in-line with the strategic vision and objectives determined by the MBD/LGI executive committees. (ii) Ensure the technical airworthiness and configuration management of MBD aircraft landing gear products(iii) Lead the Chief Engineers Office as Directeur Marque Technique (see detail of this role below) to provide: requirements; technical policy direction; and technical, schedule and budget oversight for LGI engineering products(iv) Support the MBD Technical Executive VP in developing the strategic vision/direction for LGI Engineering (skills, business opportunities, R&T needs etc.)

Lead the MBD Landing Gear Chief Engineers Office (Marque Technique) to provide: requirements; technical policy direction; and technical, schedule and budget oversight for LG&I engineeringEnsure that research, development and in-service support technical activities are planned and conducted on a sound engineering basis with proper controls and management of technical, commercial and financial risks.Ensure technical airworthiness and configuration management of MBD productsProvide technical interface with customers (Airframers, MROs, Airlines..) and with internal departments: PGMs, MANF, PURCH, COMM, CS, QUAL etc.Manage design, development, industrialisation and qualification of landing gear structures and systems to meet performance, costs (NRC & RC) and schedule objectives. Manage design modifications resulting from customer changes, maturity issues encountered in service or in production as well as actions needed for cost reduction and product improvement.

Responsible for developing and delivering global technology plans/strategies including; selection and identification of emerging/disruptive technologies, product certification strategies, protection of technology/product options and selection of preferred development partnerships (including academia).Led global R&T programme management team in delivery of R&T activities with maximised external funding/leverage, and with quality and performance meeting customer requirements.Set-up standard operating procedures to ensure delivery of robust and mature technologies at entry into service (Global R&T programme management, IP, and Technology maturity assessment processes).
