Responsible for all activities associated with running a Department and deliveringcontribution to the Centre. These included the management of sales, staff and recruitment, the reporting of financial performance and the preparation of budgets and business plans in addition to key project management and planning responsibilities. The Aerosol Science Centre had a turnover of typically £1.8 m and staff numbers around 20. Operating profit of 15 to 20% was delivered to the Centre. The Aerosol Science Centre has a wide customer base and undertakes projects and services from £1,000 to around £500,000 and was regarded as aCentre of Excellence.
