I have worked on all parts of the product line, including the "Edifice" Configuration Modeling tool (a C# desktop app), the "Envoy" Enterprise Server (a Java-based web server), and the "eSC" Building Controllers (C++ software for WinCE Embedded Computers). XML Configuration Files are used throughout. Much of our work is tied to a large and complex body of legacy code, but all distinct new modules are built with an SOA/TDD approach (Service-Oriented Architecture, Test-Driven Development). The languages and technologies that I use the most at Teletrol are Java, C#, XML, AJAX, JSP, MySQL, Tomcat, and the Spring Framework.In early 2013, I designed and developed a major extension to the "Edifice" Configuration Modeling tool, to allow large numbers of configuration elements to be formed into reusable modules. By embracing the power of pre-existing legacy code, I was able to do this very quickly, in time to save our Solution Engineering team an estimated 160 hours of tedious manual work. -
Principal Software Engineer And Site ManagerMaptech Oct 2005 - Aug 2010UsLed the development (using C++ and DirectX and GIS technology) of GENESYS Electronic Flight Bag and Surface Moving Map software, first at Maptech, Inc., then at the Maptech Aeronautical Data business unit, in Exeter, NH, which was part of DAC International, in Austin, Texas. I was the Site Manager in Exeter. All software was developed for use on Touch Screen Windows XP computers. I gained a deep understanding of geographic projections and methods for manipulating geographic data, including re-projection of data, panning, zooming, rotation, and layering. I developed software, based on DirectX, to show oblique and flat views of 2-dimensional airport diagrams, and to provide smooth rapid updating of map display, overlaid with translucent buttons, aircraft icon, and other state indicators. -
