Life doesn't get much better.Currently working on the Canadian Maritime Helicopter Project delivering the CH-148 Cyclone for the Canadian Navy. I am responsible primarily for the Flight Management System with some work on the navigation and guidance systems. Part of my responsibilities include the following:- Work with Canadian companies who deliver sub-systems to the Cyclone.- Flight test of specific equipment related to flight planning and navigation- Engineering support for flight planning process and execution- Create and verify requirements from user designed scenarios to add new functionality to the FMS.- Field support for the FMS - Engineering support to integrate and test the Helmet Mounted Display

My responsibilities have shifted at BK. Currently I am gathering, writing, modeling, and dispersing business processes for all functions here at BendixKing. The task is to take what is good from Honeywell processes, mingle them with best practices from the General Aviation industry, and boil them down into processes that will keep BK light and nimble. All the while being compliant with FAA regulations and industry standards. Keeping BK maneuverable is important to ensure that we are competitive in an already tight knit market. It's been a challenging task, but one that enables me to work with folks in all areas of BK, and understand how each functional area dovetails into the overall machine that creates such robust and desirable avionics.

My responsibilities as Director of Systems Engineering included the following activities:- Lead a staff of systems engineers who work on various avionics projects- Create a culture of collaboration and trust among the Systems Engineering Team- Create, provide direction for, and maintain systems processes at the enterprise level- Support project management by providing the correct mix of system engineering staff- Support project management by providing direction for system design and architecture- Work with my peers in Software, Hardware, Engineering Operations, and Program Management as we incorporate corporate level decisions- Provide opportunities for training for the systems engineering staff- Stay in touch with outside organizations like SAE, INCOSE, and the FAA

My team develops applications for portable devices, such as the iPad, that enhance the experience the pilot has when flight planning and flying.We try to make ordinary tasks fun!
