Logical puzzles have been my passion since I was a little kid. Driven by curiosity on how things work, my experience has taught me that if there is a way to solve a problem, persistence and creativity will get you there. Going into college I was looking for the perfect balance between theory and application. Engineering science was just the right topic to balance the knowledge and engineering tools to find practical solutions, but also enough background and theory to understand the physics to get smarter every day.While learning the theory in the classrooms, I was always looking for opportunities to increase my technical experience. In 2013 I started working as an assistant for the combustion lab in the fluid mechanics department at the TU Berlin. Supporting a Ph.D. student in the lab collecting high speed stereo PIV data and evaluating the results.In the following year, I started a position with the aerodynamics team at Bombardier Transportation in Henningsdorf (Berlin), where I implemented a new evaluation method to estimate aerodynamic resistance of trains from full-scale coasting tests.I love to explore the unknown and to dive into new cultures and discover new places. A study abroad led me to Stockholm, Sweden in 2012. At the Royal institute of Technology (KTH) I was not only able to expand my engineering knowledge, but significantly improve my language skills. While English was spoken in the classroom and most of the university, several courses in Swedish provided a springboard in the local culture. In 2016, I ventured even further from home and to the University of Arizona to take charge of a wind tunnel campaign, where I designed and assembled the setup for active flow control experiments. Data collection and evaluation led to my first publication with the AIAA.After returning to Berlin to finish my Masters degree, I returned to Arizona to pick up a PhD program. Within the program I was able to design, assemble and test several model configurations in the Arizona Low Speed Wind Tunnel. The resulting data led to multiple publications and eventually a PhD thesis. My friends value me as a social person, with the ability to sense group dynamics and defuse tense situations to keep a friendly atmosphere. Colleagues can rely on my honest opinion, a good amount of humor and never losing focus on the task ahead.
