As a senior member of the Tetra Tech team in Perth, I am responsible for the delivery of contaminated sites projects from proposal to closure. I provide technical and commercially sound advice to clients, helping them to meet obligations under the Contaminated Sites Act 2003, in a manner which meets their corporate objectives. I am currently predominantly responsible for leading investigations on complex and large scale sites where PFAS is the primary contaminant of concern. However, I also direct projects for sites which are affected by more traditional contaminants.In addition to assessment work, I also lead Tetra Tech’s remediation practice area in Western Australia. This involves providing technical and commercial guidance on remediation projects, ensuring that they are safe, technically sound, deliverable and meet both client and Tetra Tech’s requirements. This includes sites where we act as consultant and also Principal Contractor.

Upon rejoining Wood as a Principal Consultant I was employed initially to lead Wood’s team which was being mobilised to deliver the Heathrow Expansion Programme ground investigation as Principal Contractor. Key facets of this role included client management, managing subcontractor engagement, leading team identification and staff recruitment to fill approximately 40 vacancies. Following the wider project being placed on hold, I was engaged working on contract closeout items as well as providing providing specialist advice to remediation projects for clients such as the Ministry of Defence and National Grid.

At Wood I managed the delivery of all engineering related surveys required to facilitate the design and Development Consent Order (DCO) preparation for the proposed £16b Heathrow Expansion Programme. Broadly, this involved the direction and management of a continuously evolving programme of multiple work packages, from initial scope development and agreement, through contractor procurement, survey implementation, data management / quality assurance and ultimately project closure.

As project manager for a remediation contractor I was responsible for the delivery of remediation projects for sites affected by contaminants including chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons (LNAPL and dissolved phase) and heavy metals. Technologies employed on these projects included in-situ chemical oxidation and reduction (ISCO/ISCR), zero-valent iron (ZVI) barrier installation, LNAPL recovery systems and bulk excavation. In addition to project management, I also acted as site engineer responsible for maintaining operational equipment and supervising works.

During my time at Coffey I progressed from initially undertaking fieldwork and preparing Phase 1 and 2 reports on predominantly petroleum-affected sites to directing complex investigation programs and high-value remedial projects. I designed and managed projects on sites affected by a variety of chemicals of concern including petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, heavy metals, dioxins, PFOS/PFOA, methane (from both landfill and petroleum hydrocarbon natural attenuation sources) and asbestos. In addition to general day-to-day project work I also fulfilled the roll of account manager for BHP Billiton and a major local fuel importer / chemical manufacturing company. In this role I was responsible for developing long-term strategies for portfolios of sites and delivering projects which provided demonstrable value for these clients.Beyond my technical and external client facing role, I held the position of Team Leader at Coffey. In this position I was responsible for day-to-day management of a group of eight consultants from Graduate level through to Principal. This role included ensuring effective allocation of resources across projects, mentoring and performance review/management, financial management and forecasting.
