I joined British Gas Engineering Research Station (ERS) in 1972, working on the development and evaluation of internal and external protective systems for pipelines and above ground plant. I played a major role in the development and assessment of various power coatings, culminating in the development of a specification for fusion bonded epoxy powder coatings for all buried gas transmission pipework.With promotion took I on a wider scope of work, which involved the supervision of technician staff involved with materials related engineering projects. Following further promotion I joined a team where I was involved in many projects in the field of low-pressure pipeline technology, civil engineering related to highway excavation and reinstatement and gas engineering incident investigation. For a while I took up the post as Assistant Site Services Manager (ERS) responsible for a team of staff maintaining the building infrastructure, building improvement and additions.I joined Advanced Engineering Solutions Limited on 2 October 1995 as Company Secretary/Technical Director responsible for implementing and managing the company's administration systems, accounts and HSEQ systems.In my technical role I have been involved in a number of pipeline and pipeline equipment related projects for a number of clients including gas utilities, water utilities, their contractors and suppliers. I have been involved in pipeline assessment using my experience to comment on pipeline coating condition and recommending remedial action.
