Designed, engineered, and supported various optical Ethernet, SONET, and DWDM network solutions for the Enventis core transport network for Iowa and Minnesota, in addition to engineering and implementing customer premise network solutions and overseeing the construction of a new data center. • Successfully designed and implemented a Cisco 15454 M6 MSTP 3-node downtown Des Moines metro 40-channel DWDM ring for the Enventis core transport network; a team effort between Engineering, OSP, Installation, NOC, and others.• Designed, configured, and inserted BTI 700 series Ethernet access network elements into live 1Gbps and 10Gbps Ethernet rings on the Enventis network to provide service to customers in the Iowa and Minnesota regions. Worked directly with various customers in IA and MN to provide optical and copper Ethernet services per contractual agreements.• Engineered a new 9-node 10Gbps Ethernet Calix E7-2 series ring for the Enventis network. The nodes were added into Enventis core transport sites, Enventis OSP remote cabinets, and customer sites.

• Completed 2 months extensive SONET theory & laboratory training provided by NEC & TPSI specifically for NEC ITS-2400V OC-48 network element in-service upgrades for numerous Sprint OC-48 rings in the USA. • Traveled extensively (80%) nationwide to Sprint facilities as a Field Engineer to upgrade NEC ITS-2400V Add Drop Multiplexer (ADM) network elements for SONET 4-fiber BLSR OC48 rings. Managed SONET ADM systems with Transaction Language 1 (TL1) and Ring Craft Interface Device (RCID). The upgrade procedures required: replacement of circuit boards & EEPROMS, downloading ITS-2400V firmware, system provisioning, and troubleshooting network elements, all ring nodes were completed simultaneously as a team effort during a maintenance window. • Traveled extensively nationwide to AT&T switch sites to perform site reports on the installation of NEC ITS-2400A SONET ADMs and DWDM systems.
