I have extensive experience as both an educator and an editor/writer. Regarding the former: After being an adjunct instructor at the College of DuPage in Illinois, I began teaching on the secondary level here in Florida. Regarding the latter: I have extensive experience in publishing, having worked as a project editor, a copy editor, and a contract writer. I have worked as an editor in book publishing, the financial services industry, and at a weekly newspaper, for which I also I contributed occasional articles. In addition, I worked as a contract writer for the University of Chicago Hospitals while I was a graduate student at the U of C. As a copy editor, I can work in a range of styles. As an AP Research teacher up until last spring (I retired from teaching early because of the pandemic), I am well-versed in APA style, which is required by the College Board. In addition, I have in-depth knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style, as my employer in Chicago (NTC/Contemporary Publishing) paid for me to take a course devoted to Chicago style at the University of Chicago’s Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies.Finally, I took up screenwriting three years ago and wrote my first screenplay, The Apple and the Tree, which was a semi-finalist in the Fall 2020 Los Angeles Screenplay Awards and a quarterfinalist in both the Austin Film Festival and StoryPro screenplay competitions.
